Chester Inn cottage was originally built as a workshop by award-winning New Zealand potter Chester Neallie. Now renovated into fully self-contained luxury accommodation, it exudes an old-world ambience with Japanese-style adobe walls, Kauri timber floors, wharf beams, fire bricks and cedar shingle roof.

It's the perfect romantic getaway for couples, a retreat for four, or ideal for quiet time out for a small family (sleeps five).

Chester Inn's lounge is complete with comfy kauri furniture, a slate snooker table, CD player and TV/VCR. The kitchen is fully furnished for self-catering, including a barbeque on the deck. Dine at a massive swamp kauri table and chairs; we will supply all your breakfast provisions.

The main bedroom comforts you with a queen size bed and stunning views to the harbour. In the attic snuggery, you'll find a cosy double bed with an equally astonishing birds-eye view. And just off the lounge, step up to a single bed on the mezzanine for an afternoon of reading or a little kip.

Up the wharf-beam stairs you will find an Italian shower-room and and old-world European bathroom, both with toilets. This level also has a small washing machine.

And while Chester Inn is an oasis of peace and seclusion, there is plenty to do nearby. South Head Golf Course is only two kilometres away, and there are plenty of local spots for walking, wading or swimming. At nearby Helensville and Parakai, there are natural thermal hot pools, restaurants and cafes, a Pioneer Museum, narbour cruising, fishing and horse trekking.
